Saturday Night Live is about to add three new fresh faces to their cast for Season 45. It was announced today that Chloe Fineman and Shane Gillis are both joining the show’s cast for the upcoming season (premiering September 28th with Woody Harrelson hosting & Billie Eilish as the musical guest).

The third addition will be Bowen Yang, who is making history as the first out East Asian cast member in the show’s history (Yang is Chinese). This is not however, Yang’s first time working on the famed variety show. In 2018, he served as a writer on the show, and he also portrayed North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un (alongside guest host Sandra Oh). He also co-wrote the now notorious gay porn parody sketch The Actress, that featured A-list actress Emma Stone.Â
Bowen has already proven that he is much more than a razor sharp interpretation of one of the world’s most loathsome leaders and a writer of content. He co-hosts the podcast Las Culturistas, still hits the comedy club circuit, and is becoming quite known for his pinpoint perfection lip sync videos.

Yang recently told NBCOut “I’m absolutely looking at my career differently,” he explained, “but it’s still really important to some sense of connection to where I came from, which is this DIY, queer work ethic and sensibility.”
Expect Bowen Yang to bring all of that and more to the 45th season of Saturday Night Live.
