Country music superstar Shania Twain was having quite the comeback over the past year up until this weekend. The "You're Still The One" singer came out with her first album in 15 years, started performing all over again and even scored a stint on the wildly popular RuPaul's Drag Race this past week.
This changed for the worse for her on Sunday, when she spoke about why she would've voted for Donald Trump in the 2016 election in an interview with The Guardian. This is the quote from that particular article:
“I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn’t be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don’t want bullshit. I would have voted for a feeling that it was transparent. And politics has a reputation of not being that, right?”
That quote quickly made her one of the top trending topics on Sunday night, where the backlash was felt immediately after the piece was published.
The backlash was bad enough where Shania took to her Twitter late Sunday to apologize for what she said, saying that her answer was "awkward."
