A Handful Of Celebrities Are Coming For Dwayne Wade After He Announces Transgender Daughter

Isn’t one of the most fabulous conversations you’ve ever had with your friends or fellow members of the LGBTQ community about coming out? Moreover, it usually leads to the “When did you know that you were [gay]?” Personally, I always joke that I was hitting on the baby boy next to me in the maternity ward. I’ve always been gay since my first memories and I’ve encountered a lot of other people who have believed the same. Nowadays, where sexuality is fluid and gender is a concept in some minds, that conversation has expanded to include our brothers and sisters of the transgender and non-gender conforming communities. Celebrities and Average Joes are making headlines for announcing their young children are identifying as transgender. Most recently, basketball player Dwayne Wade made public that his twelve-year-old child identifies as a girl despite being born a boy and has since been going through the talk show circuit to promote transgender acceptance. But, that doesn’t mean a handful of haters are going to come with it.

According to WGCI Chicago, rappers Boosie Badazz, Young Thug, and according to Pink News, Empire actress, Serayah McNeill, are calling out Wade for allowing his child to be called transgender. The three entertainers took their words to social media, where everyone besides to let their ass hang out – sometimes literally. Young Thug deleted a tweet stating: “God don’t make mistakes, but you’re your true self”. McNeill decided to throw her hat in the ring saying:

“There are plenty of kids and their parents are letting them do this. I think everything is a little bit too much premature. I don’t care if you’re boy or a girl, for me, there’s things we need to be worried about. What do you wanna do in life? Do you wanna be in any activities? OK, let’s let you go through this. But let’s not jump to a life changing decision that can never be undone. That’s really serious. [I knew people in high school who experimented and then] boom, I thought they was… that was something they were going through. They’re a child. Your brain is still developing. I’m accepting of my child being gay, that’s OK, but there are so many others things around that in society that is pressuring children and parents to be a certain type of way. Let’s wait till you get a little bit older, and this is exactly what you want to be and do for the rest of your life.”

Badazz went on a specific rant putting words in Wade’s mouth claiming that he is “allowing his son to [remove his gentilia].” Which, first of all, Wade has never made any references to his transgender daughter having any type of surgery, nor do I believe surgery so young would exist? Badazz ranted and I’ve put his now-deleted video for you below the transcript:

“Dwyane Wade, you gone too [effing] far, dawg. That is a male. A 12-year-old. At 12, they don’t even know what they next meal gon’ be. They don’t have [it] figured out yet. He might meet a woman, anything, at 16 and fall in love with her. But his dick be gone—how he gon’—like, bruh, you going too far, dawg. Don’t cut his dick off, bruh. Like, bruh, for real, if he gon’ be gay, let him be gay. Don’t cut his dick off, bruh. Don’t address him as a woman, dawg. He’s 12 years old. He’s not up there yet. He hasn’t made his final decisions yet. Don’t cut his [effing] dick off, Dwyane Wade, bruh. You [effing] trippin’, dawg.”

It seems a lot of this conversation stems around the ignorance of genitlia. To reiterate, Wade never stated his transgender daughter is going through any type of surgery. Now people want to make child abuse allegations and saying his child is too young to make any type of gender decisions, which can be argued, but as someone who truly knew they were gay from the moment of memory I can’t help but think perhaps one would know their gender identity as a young age and wouldn’t turn back. It makes me think of the horror cult classic, Sleepaway Camp, where an aunt forced her nephew to live his life as a girl and it made him become a serial killer in his teenage years. This isn’t like that! From the outside looking in, all we should be seeing is love. Speaking from a gay perspective, my young life may have been completely different if I was able to be my authentic self from the very start – not once I became a teenager.

Do you think celebrities are fair game to have their parenting flamed upon by the media and society? Before you answer that question, take a gander at Wade talking about his transgender daughter on The Ellen Show from last week that sparked this entire viral sensation.
