The sexiest accent in the world, according to a recent poll conducted by travel site Big 7, is from a country that isn’t necessarily the easiest to get to from a geographic point of view.
New Zealand’s accent ranked at number one after Big 7 polled 8,500 people from 60 countries across the globe recently.
“The ‘Newzild’ dialect is outrageously charming,” the travel site wrote of the accent which is spoken across New Zealand. “The sexiest accent in the world? It’s official.” It is spoken by celebs like pop singer Lorde and country crooner Keith Urban.
The Australian accent, perfected by smoking hot men like Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman, ranked fifth. Italian placed fourth, then Irish in third and South African in second.
A couple of accents made popular in the United States also charted. New York ranked 44th (“Fast and hypernasal, yet quite charming at times”), Boston 28th (“One of America’s most imitated and parodied accents, Boston comes in at almost midway on the world’s sexiest accents”) and the states that represent the South at number 9 (“Who can resist a slow, Texan drawl?”)
Buzzfeed did a compilation of American accents recently to determine which one was the sexiest. “I was shook when I first heard his voice. I was like ‘Lord panties please stay on'”, one woman said after hearing a man read her a poem in an Alabaman accent.
They did something similar in January when deciphering which Spanish accent was the sexiest.
