First Madonna, then Adele and Jennifer Lawrence, and now Taylor Swift has become the latest diva to make a surprise appearance at a legendary New York City gay bar.
The “You Belong With Me” songstress made jaws drop when she took to the stage at The Stonewall Inn on Friday, June 14. She did this only hours after releasing a pride anthem called “You Need to Calm Down” off her forthcoming album Lover, which is set to be released on August 23, 2019.
Taylor, 29, performed her 2014 smash “Shake it Off” during a show from Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson. “It’s an absolute honor to be here at the Stonewall Inn,” she told the adoring crowd.
I’m so happy I don’t have to keep this secret any longer. Look who came to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Stonewall at the Stonewall Inn. @taylorswift13, you are a gem. Thank you for everything you do for the LGBTQ community. We ❤️ you! 🌈 https://t.co/ICE2b3arxU

“I’m so happy I don’t have to keep this secret any longer,” Jesse, 43, wrote on his Twitter. “Look who came to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Stonewall at the Stonewall Inn. @taylorswift13, you are a gem. Thank you for everything you do for the LGBTQ community. We love you!”
Taylor wasn’t the only bad ass singer at The Stonewall Inn that night. Sara Bareilles was also part of the chaos that evening and posted an Instagram clip of Taylor and Jesse singing and dancing on stage together.
“I’m proud to stand with a glorious, colorful community that is still fighting to create safe spaces for those who still seek them,” Sara said in part. “We are lucky in NYC, but there are places where not everyone can shake it with Tay Tay.”
Taylor’s surprise appearance coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots that sparked the modern LGBT+ rights movement. It’s all leading up to WorldPride in New York City that begins on Wednesday, June 26.
Madonna, 60, who is performing during WorldPride on Pride Island, packed the house during her own surprise appearance at The Stonewall Inn on New Year’s Eve 2018.
Adele, 31, and Jennifer, 28, also enjoyed a fun night out in March at nearby gay bar Pieces.
