Gay Asian men are on the rise in the entertainment world, and especially in the comedy sphere.

While Bowen Yang is joining SNL’s cast and Nico Santos is celebrating being cast in comedic roles mirrored after himself, Joel Kim Booster has been subtly rising in popularity and work for the past few years. And now, he has another project to show for all that hard work.

Streaming platform Quibi has greenlit for development a new romantic comedy titled Trip, which will be created by Booster and production company Jax Media. The series will be set in New York’s Fire Island and, according to Deadline, be “an unapologetic, modern day rom-com inspired by Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. The story centers around two best friends who set out to have a legendary week-long summer vacation with the help of cheap rosé and a cadre of eclectic friends.”

Joel Kim Booster took to Twitter to celebrate the announcement of this project.

“For the last couple of years I’ve been threatening to pitch a gay Pride and Prejudice adaptation that takes place entirely on Fire Island and I finally found a platform foolish enough to do it!!” Booster tweeted.
