To Go Under The Knife To Be Less Ethnic? Koreans Get Photoshopped With Plastic Surgery Ideals

To find this video shocking is an understatement. I think many of us have considered plastic surgery for some small blemish or alteration, but for most, its just a passing thought. To have a culture, a society that believes imperfections are throughout their genetic make-up, I could not imagine trying to survive in that.  Yes, I do live in America and we do battle with body image, pictures of perfection, etc. all the time, but were just told were not pretty.  I don't think the United States as a whole compares to what is being portrayed in this Buzzfeed video.  Or maybe I'm just overreacting.  You decided.

What are your thoughts?  I titled this blog "To Go Under The Knife To Be Less Ethnic?"  Thats what it seemed like.

What I found interesting is Eugene seemed more accepting of his new looks, more so than the females in the video.  He thought it was an improvement, while the women were more or less not seeing a drastic change and that change was not preferred to what they already looked like.

I do wonder though, if this video was done with Koreans that were born and raised and lived in Korea, would there have been more acceptance of the changes shown and would there have been more desire to have surgery.  has being in America lessened the Korean influence on this topic?  It seemed that at least two of these individuals had just visited Korea, one for a year and one to just visit family.  One of the girls, it was unknown how long her time in Korea was.  But then again, they are parts of Korean families and that pressure may still be there from their parents, their siblings, their community, even here in the United States.

Do you see a drive in your nation or within your culture to embrace and promote plastic surgery?

Have you had plastic surgery to remove features that may be considered ethnic traits?  Did you feel pressured to do so ?
