Singer, and soon to be actor, Troye Sivan spoke the lyrics to Sufjan Stevens’ “Mystery of Love” as a poetry reading.
Troye Sivan is not afraid to profess his love of Call Me By Your Name. The South African-born and Australian-raised singer participated in Dazed’s Texts series by performing the spoken-word piece.
Part of Sivan’s love for the film is probably because he emphasized with the character Elio so much. As he told PopCrush recently:
“I think that it 100 percent was made for Timothée Chalamet, but I would have at least auditioned,” he said of the coveted role. “I really feel like that was the first time, pretty much ever, that I’ve looked at a character and been like, ’I 100 percent relate to that person.’ Like every single thing, even down to his body type and the way that he looks. It’s so strange. I look at his body and I’m like, ’That’s my body.’ Like skinny, small little nipples, pale. Like everything down to the nipples, it’s me.”
While Sivan didn’t get the chance to take on the role of Elio, he is starting down the road of a professional actor.
As we shared last year, Sivan is acting in a film focusing on gay conversion therapy called, Boy Erased. Sivan will be joined by other actors such as Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, and Lucas Hedges.
