Pop singer Troye Sivan officially released a lyric video for his song "Revelation" from the film Boy Erased, which is currently in select theaters and will open nationwide November 16th.
Not only has Troye written this spellbinding song (alongside musician Jónsi) for the star-studded film but he is also flexing his acting chops in it as well.
Boy Erased tells the courageous story of Jared Eamons (Lucas Hedges), the son of a Baptist pastor in a small American town, who must overcome the fallout of being outed to his parents (Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe). His parents struggle with reconciling their love for their son with their beliefs. Fearing a loss of family, friends, and community, Jared is pressured into attending a conversion therapy program. While there, Jared comes into conflict with its leader (Joel Edgerton) and begins his journey to finding his own voice and accepting his true self.
Rounding out the cast of Boy Erased are Cherry Jones, Michael “Flea” Balzary, Xavier Dolan, Joe Alwyn, Emily Hinkler, Jesse LaTourette, David Joseph Craig, Théodore Pellerin, Madelyn Cline and Britton Sear.
The video for "Revelation" is simply a lyrical one, however the point of it does come across through the duration of the clip. It resonate with the material from the movie as Troye and Jónsi expertly created lines that showcase what Jared is having to deal with throughout the movie.
It could be powerful enough for both of them to earn their first Oscar nominations for Best Original Song next year.
