Will Cher Still Be a Virgin Who Can’t Drive in the ‘Clueless’ Remake?

Before Mean Girls the world had Clueless, the cult classic that gave us famous one-liners like “as if” or “buggin’”. Starbucks was hardly a household name and Alicia Silverstone gave us the pretentious Cher Horowitz the ensemble-coordinating, future philanthropist, who couldn’t drive, but always meant well blonde from Beverly Hills. Also–Paul Rudd.

Clueless is an untouchable movie from 1995 that lived shortly after the movie as a television series for three seasons. And it should have ended there since Clueless was quintessentially 90s and gave rise to a wave of coming-of-age comedies that helped close out the millennium with their chunky platforms, wide-leg jeans, butterfly clips, and grunge chic fashions. Aaaah the 90s.

But now the unthinkable has happened. According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures is developing a remake of Clueless. Marquita Robinson who is a writer on Netflix’s GLOW is attached to write the script and Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver will be producing.

Recent news about the Clueless musical was also released. The production will open on December 11th is an Off Broadway show that will have its run at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center.

So with modern day technology who will Clueless play out? Will Cher’s fashion polaroids turn to Instagram shots? Will Cher still be a virgin who can’t drive?

It’s horrible to see so many remakes popping up to murder classic originals and take away from the perfection we love about originals. But who knows, look at how successful A Star is Born has been with its several remakes!

Nothing else has been shared about the Clueless remake, but can we hope for an Alicia Silverstone and Stacey Dash cameo? Do people still like Stacey Dash since she’s a Trump supporter? Will they respectfully honor Brittany Murphy’s character Tai? Also–Paul Rudd.
