The Hollywood Reporter has announced that 3-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep will make her triumphant return to television in the 2nd season of the critically-acclaimed series Big Little Lies.

It's her first time being on HBO in over a decade.  The last time she was on the network was for her performance in the television adaptation of Angels in America, which won her both an Emmy and Golden Globe.

So what will Meryl be playing on the Nicole KidmanReese Witherspoon starred phenomenon? Her character's name is Mary Louise Wright, the mother to the abusive Perry Wright (Alexander Skarsgard), who (spoiler alert!) was revealed to have been the one who died during the Emmy-winning first season of the David E. Kelley drama based on the Liane Moriarty novel. (Skarsgard is said to be returning in some capacity for season two.)

Her character is is described as a woman who is concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren following her son Perry's death. She arrives in Monterey searching for answers.
