Homophobic Religious Videos Part of 'Be Courageous' Campaign

A series of videos are circulating promoting anti-gay gospel from a group of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The videos, which are homophobic in nature, are set to be shown at the “Be Courageous!” Convention for JWs which teach to stand up against members of the LGBTQ community—because the bible tells you so.

The videos have been leaked and are now circulating and causing fear and disappointment that the millions of people who will watch these videos are being told that intolerance toward others due to religious belief isn’t considered ‘hate speech’.

In everyday situations, including work, at home, and at school, the videos depict scenarios where folks should be able to denounce homosexuality in the name of God. I guess keeping your opinions to yourself is being thrown out the window. This is the type of behavior that incites hatred and causes division in families, friendships, and communities.

Take a look at the two of the videos that are part of the series here:

There’s even this animated version that targets children, but is still pretty cut throat under all those pretty colors. I mean, no gays in the eternal paradise? It won't be fabulous at all!

Deadly Stats Remind Us That Brazil's One Of The Most Dangerous Places For LGBTQ People

New reports are coming in to remind us that Brazil has the most recorded incidents of violence towards LGBTQ people in the world.

The numbers in question come from a report by Grupo Gay de Bahia and they state that in 2017 there were 387 homicides dude to homophobia/transphobia. This is a 30% increase from the 327 deaths in 2016. In addition the report also says that there were 58 suicides in 2017.

While many of us say we want to visit Brazil, like when that video of the four men making out at a festival parade broke out, many of us forget how dangerous Brazil is for LGBTQ people.

While having marriage equality, legal recognition of trans people, and multiple festivals/parade where all kinds of fun happens, Brazil simultaneously is world renown for its anit-gay violence. In fact, the country makes up 40% of the worlds recorded incidents of anti-LGBTQ violence.

We've reported on multiple incidents of violence and anti-gay rhetoric in Brazil.

For instance, a teenager was stabbed and buried by his own mother last January because he was gay.

Brazil’s court system ruled in favor of conversion therapy back in September.

And a gay homeless man was burned alive while he slept in an empty parking lot at the end of the year.

All of this is to say that we should always remember just how dangerous Brazil can be for LGBTQ people. Don’t let its good side make you forget the bad.

Ongoing Trial Over Tortured Young Boy Reveals He Had Multiple Injuries

We have some updated information on the atrocities brought upon an 8-year-old boy by his mother and her boyfriend because they thought he was gay.

In 2013, Isauro Aguirre and Pearl Hernandez were charged with capital murder for the cruel torturing of Pearl’s 8-year-old son Gabriel that eventually lead to his death.

The trial for Isauro Aguirre is still ongoing and Pearl Hernandez’s is pending (along with the child service agents who neglected in their responsibilities to save the boy).

That said, more information (and unreleased photos) was shared of the boy’s wounds during the first trial.

Supposedly, the couple called the police only after they had beaten Gabriel so badly that he wouldn’t wake up, but they lied with a story that Gabriel had fallen in the shower.

When first responders got there and immediately took him to the Antelope Valley Hospital, they were amazed at the scars the boy had.

“There were abrasions. There were open wounds. There was bruising. There was swelling. There was marks on the legs. There was skin missing off the top of the neck, so there were multiple injuries on Gabriel...head to toe," said Registered Nurse Alison Segal who testified in court Friday, according to KABC-TV.

Segal was on duty at the time that Gabriel came in on May 22, 2013, but his injures were so several she didn’t get to finish her assessment of him before he was rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

In addition, Gabriel’s sister Virginia was cross-examined and admitted that she was afraid of her mother Pearl Hernandez. She shared that in one instance her mother struck her with a baseball bat.

14-year-old Virginia also shared that her mother would shoot the 8-year-old Gabriel with BBs and beat him with a bat. Then, on the night that they called first responders, Pearl ordered Virgina to clean Gabriel’s blood off the floor before they got there.

Keep in mind that this was all shared at Aguirre’s trial and Pearl Hernadez’s trial is still pending.

In addition, four social workers are to be tried on child abuse and other charges for not getting Gabriel out of the household.

Court Judge Mary Lou Villar said that “red flags were everywhere” during the months before Gabriel died and that the social workers mishandled evidence of escalating abuse and failed to file timely reports on what was happening.

All four have pleaded not guilty.

The World Health Organization Named Anti-Gay Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe A "Goodwill Ambassador"

The World Health Organization’s director general just appointed a deeply hateful man as “Goodwill Ambassador” in a move that’s so ironic it’s nauseating.

Tedros Adhanom made the announcement this past Wednesday, October 18 that Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe would be given the title.

In his speech he said, “Today I am honored to announce that President Mugabe has agreed to serve as a goodwill ambassador on NCDs [non-communicable diseases] for Africa to influence his peers in his region to prioritize NCDs.”

They later clarified through twitter that, “Zimbabwe established a levy fund for NCDs, an innovative domestic resource mobilization approach that other countries can learn from.”

But who is Robert Mugabe?

Robert Mugabe has been ruling over Zimbabwe as it’s president since 1987 and has used his position to spread hate speech concerning gay people constantly.

As Gay Star News recounts:

In 2013, he promised hell for gay and lesbians if he was re-elected. In the same speech, he said gay people should also ‘rot in jail.’

He also previously threatened to cut gay people’s heads off, as well as ‘filthy gays destroy nations.’

As you can imagine, there are several people who do not approve of the WHO’s decision on making Mugabe the “goodwill ambassador.”
