The 2019 Emmy Award nominations have been announced and, as anticipated, red carpet ninja Billy Porter snagged a well-earned nomination for Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work as “Pray Tell” in FX’s acclaimed series, Pose.
The series, which chronicles the ball culture of New York City in the late 80s at the height of the AIDS epidemic, received a total of 6 nominations including for Outstanding Drama Series.
RuPaul’s Drag Race was honored with 9 nominations including Outstanding Competition Series.
Lesbian thriller Killing Eve also received 9 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series.
Fans of Broadway will be thrilled to see FX’s limited series, Fosse/Verdon, received 17 nominations including nods for Lead Actor and Lead Actress in a Limited Series for Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams respectively.
And Ellen DeGeneres was nominated for Game of Games.
HBO’s Game of Thrones led the scoreboard with a whopping 32 nominations.
The 71st Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sept. 22 at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
