New York City honored actress Laverne Cox by giving her a day.
Yesterday, on June 22, the mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, presented Cox with a proclamation declaring June 22 to officially be “Laverne Cox Day” in the city.
Later, Cox made an Instagram post about the announcement and was overjoyed.
“WOW! Thank you so much Mayor and First Lady. I am beyond honored and grateful for this proclamation. #TransIsBeautiful happy #Pride. NYC enjoy Laverne Cox Day. Love and embrace who you are and celebrate and love each other!”
