As Fall starts to grip New England and it finally becomes bearable to step outside in Florida, our thoughts start focusing on Winter vacations in warmer climates. If you're like myself, I enjoy a vacation that has a little bit of everything, some place new with a lot of fun, culture, travel, gayness, and debauchery.

It looks like Cuba might be that place.

We did a story a couple of months ago about gay travel to the newly opened for business Cuba (alandchucktravel-offers-first-gay-cuba-cruise-history).  Both Aquafest Cruises and Al and Chuck Travel have offered a gay cruise package for January for 2016 with the former being sold out already.

A cruise to Cuba might be the best way to get your taste of Cuban culture, no?  If I was offered a cruise to Cuba (hint hint Al and Chuck!) I would definitely take it, but like a new car, I usually shy away from the first model year or the first offerings of things.  The first trip to Cuba will be exciting and hopefully it will all go smooth, but future cruises will most likely have less hiccups.

What if you want to wait for the Second Annual Criuse, but still want a taste of Cuban culture?  Your answer may be #ComingOutCuba.

TO REVEAL THE GAY CUBAN CULTURE. TO BUILD A NEW ONE.

ComingOutCuba – The National Cuban American LGBTQ Foundation will organize, activate, and engage a united Cuban-American community by restoring and building the gay Cuban culture and mobilize human and financial resources to care for those in need in South Florida and around the U.S.

ComingOutCuba vision is to reveal the gay Cuban culture pre-revolution while building a new one. It provides a platform for multicultural artists to exhibit and perform throughout the world, acts as a job placement agency for talented gay and Cuban artist while serving as a role model for the younger generation, and offers grants for education in the arts field.

"The organization was inspired by an amazing, private and very sentimental picture of a family member captured in Cuba, in 1940s gold era showcasing a very lavish gay Cuban culture pre revolution, which only came to light after he passed away. In addition to the struggle which my family, like many Cuban families had to endure as exiles in the quest to find freedom and follow the American dream." – Osmany Cacallero, Founder and President.

ComingOutCuba Foundation is not affiliated with any religious or political organizations, its sole purpose is to organize, activate and engage a united Cuban-American community and mobilize human and financial resources to care for those in need in South Florida and around the U.S. – www.comingoutcuba.org

If you cannot go to Gay Cuba, Gay Cuba will come to you.  With events like "La Santa Cuba" during this year's Art Basel in December, we look forward to seeing what #ComingOutCuba has to offer us in South Florida and the U.S.

Partaking in #ComingOutCuba's events may be cheaper than a cruise, but then again, why can't we do both?
