Who knew super-retailer Walmart had its own dating show?

Titled, Love is in the Aisle: A dating show at Walmart, the short video series sends couples off on blind dates – where else? – at a Walmart.

In the second installment we meet Pat and Andy, who get to know each other while perusing the mega-store.

Before he can even hug Andy ‘hello,’ Pat seems pretty smitten telling the furry blond, “You’re handsome!”

Ok, so this is going well.

Pat trips up a bit  in the produce department when he asks if Andy has ever roasted squash in the oven – as he holds up a coconut.

Maybe Pat isn’t much of a cook, but Andy doesn’t seem that much of a kitchen-wiz himself asking, “Ok, but how do you roast something?”

Pat does seem to know something about cookware, though, as he pushes Andy to buy a cast-iron skillet. “You need a cast-iron skillet,” urges Pat. “You can make pretty much anything in it.”

Ok, so he's pretty much on point there.

Andy goes for the pan, and then offers his many ‘pan puns’ he has at the ready.

Not sure why someone excels at ‘pan puns’ for a hobby, but ok…

Asked what kind of soap he might need, Andy explains he needs them all – “All the soaps – shampoo, conditioner and bar soap for everything else.”

Conditioner isn’t a soap, but we’ll keep moving because Andy is cute.

Pat suggests a combo three-in-one product, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, but Andy thinks those products might be a hoax.

"How do we know that it’s got all three?” wonders Andy. “Like, they could put in the conditioner and body wash, but we’d never know that they didn’t put any shampoo in there.”

Andy may not know much about roasting something, or 3/1 hygiene products, but he definitely loves oatmeal cakes.

Like, really loves them.

Pat's never had one, but Andy rips the package open (did I mention he really likes oatmeal pies?) and makes Pat try one on the spot.

Pat likes. This is going well.

You’ll have to hit the play button below to see if things might actually ‘pan’ out for the twosome.

It’s all pretty light-hearted and cute, but you know haters gonna hate.

Anti-LGBTQ organization, One Million Moms, was horrified. They dispatched an email to their followers complaining about "the video ad normalizing the LGBT lifestyle" and urging them write to Walmart asking them to remove the video.

p.s. One Million Moms doesn’t really have one million members, so go away.

Tim Wildmon, president of the virulently anti-LGBTQ American Family Association, urged his fellow-haters to sign a petition about the spot. “I honestly never thought Walmart would join the cultural revolution and reject the beliefs of its customer base,” wrote Wildmon in an email blast.

Whatever…

Thanks to Walmart for the inclusivity.

  1. I love that the two are

I love that the two are normal though a bit quirky guys. Unlike so many dating clips, no high drama, no oddities, just two men in a Wal-Mart. I find both adorable and hope they hit it off.

  2. OK, Wal-Mart is not all that

OK, Wal-Mart is not all that inclusive (since the loss of Sam), and has seen better days, (before the loss of Sam)

Since when is heterosexuality the base of anything (one million moms & American Family Association)?

If being LGBTQ is a lifestyle choice, then can it not be said that not being LGBTQ is also a lifestyle choice?

Though I would not recommend Cast iron, until I really know someone better. Too easy to be a heavy swinging object.

Not cool to open a package and sample the product inside. Since one liked the oatmeal pies/cookies, easily could have waited until they were paid for.

  4. I love Walmart for doing this

I love Walmart for doing this. This was really funny and sweet. If I were straight, I would have no problem with this.

People should stop bitching about things that especially have nothing to do with them.
