American Idol, Leah LaBelle, Killed In Car Crash
LaBelle Was On The Third Season Of The Series
OMG! Guys this is absolutely horrible!
According to NBC News, tragically, 2004 Finalist of American Idol (Season Three), Leah LaBelle, and her former NBA husband, Rasual Butler, have been killed in a car wreck in Studio City, Los Angeles. LaBelle was an incredibly young – 31, while he husband – who was on nearly every major Basketball team – was 38.
It’s being reported by the Los Angeles Police Department that Butler was driving almost three times the speed limit before he hit a curb around 2:25AM. Their vehicle, a 2011 Land Rover, flipped twice. The couple was pronounced dead at the scene.
I remember LaBelle as the prettiest contestant during Idol’s third run! She was even scolded at by Simon Cowell, who told her to “pack your bags, you’re going home.” I seriously REMEMBER him saying that to her after her first performance when they were the top 12 people. She competed against greats like Fantastia Barrino and Jennifer Hudson. LaBelle would eventually team up with Keri Hilson five years later and got signed by Pharrell Williams shortly after.
Butler, besides being an NBA All Star, was a friend of Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom who appeared on Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
Wow! This is completely heartbreaking!! May they both rest in absolute paradise. LaBelle's Instagram biography claims:
"Unicorns cannot die"
They cannot, girl. You will live on through your art and thumbprint on the industry.
LaBelle topped the R&B charts in 2012 with her hit, Sexify. Let’s all give a listen in honor of her today. You can check it out below:
