Ben & Jerry’s has a new limited time ice cream out, and they’re using it to make a political statement.
It seems the folks over at one of the most famous ice cream companies in the world have decided to express just how much they disapprove of the Trump administration. In order to do so, they’ve released a new ice cream called Pecan Resist.
This new product, made up of chocolate ice cream with white & dark fudge chunks, pecans, walnuts, and fudge-covered almonds, is Ben & Jerry’s way of speaking out against the Trump administration.
As the official description of this ice cream pint describes:
“Alongside all those nutty chunks, this pint packs a powerful message under its lid: together, we can build a more just and equitable tomorrow. We can peacefully resist the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies and build a future that values inclusivity, equality, and justice for people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, refugees, and immigrants. Pecan Resist supports four organizations that are working on the front lines of the peaceful resistance, building a world that supports their values.”
Those four organizations that Ben & Jerry’s is supporting through this limited time ice cream include:
- Colors of Change: a pro-Black rights and goals initiative that “designs campaigns powerful enough to end practices that unfairly hold Black people back.”
- Honor the Earth: an organization that works to fix climate change, find renewable energy, and uphold environmental justice with indigenous communities.
- Neta: An independent media platform led by poele of color living along the Texas-Mexico border.
- Women’s March: The ongoing movement to speak out for the rights of diverse women and their communities.
While Ben & Jerry’s doesn’t specify if all proceeds from Pecan Resist will go towards these organizations or not, we know that at least a portion will.
