Now we’ve heard it all.
Chris Hemsworth, of all people, says he doesn’t know what a thirst trap is. If you are in the same boat, a thirst trap is a bit of a broad term and phenomenon. The term can mean a social media photo that is clearly made to show skin and turn viewers on. From Odell Beckham Jr.’s Clavin Klein photo to Jason Derulo’s controversial underwear shot. But some would define a thirst trap as a playfully disguised photo that isn’t overly sexual. Yet, it still gets people attracted to the photo’s focus. Photos of men reading on the subway or pictures of guys cuddling with pets could also be considered thirst traps through this definition.
But apparently, Hemsworth has never heard of this term at all. He shared this reality through an interview with Refinery29.
“Thirst trap? Thirst trap? What is that?” he said. “Tell me, this is fascinating.”
Someone on Hemsworth’s team then showed the below picture of Chris’ brother Liam Hemsworth. Chris got the idea after that.
“Oh, so it’s like, you’re trying to play it down like it’s casual, but you’re doing like a….” he surmised. “Thirst trap. HAHA! Ok. We’ll try to get more of those going.”
Now, this was a funny and strange moment for us to discover. After all, Chris Hemsworth is known so well for creating thirst traps himself. The man’s whole career is one big thirst trap, really. From his shirtless scenes in the Thor movies to his social media videos promoting his better health app, Hemsworth is often making fans salivate at his image.
With that in mind, it’s funny to think that the man has never come across the term “thirst trap” before. But now that he has, we hope he follows through on his word on trying ‘to get more of those going.” We’ll be waiting, Chris.
