Working on the 5th largest college campus in the country with half of its 50,000 student population being young men, you get to see a lot of different clothing and hairstyles. With a prominent number of students from southern Florida and Latin American nations, cuts and cloths are a little more hip than rural Maine.

For those of us with enough hair to style, Hairstyleonpoint.com has recently given us a list of today's popular and modern styles.  I've never been a fan of pony tails, but I must say, I'm becoming one now.  A man with a top knot, yum.

    • I have an extremely diverse

I have an extremely diverse family, and I am so proud of that! I honestly have white, Asian, Native American, Mexican and black people in my immediate family. I have a lot of siblings and we all married very diverse people. And, to top it all off, I am gay! Yes, modern family. And yes, we live in California and we are embracing of all people from varying walks of life. I am very proud of my family. 😉

That said, I can tell you that every ethnicity that you listed can absolutely do many variations of these looks shown in this article. I seriously don't see why you are saying this. It almost comes off as you being the one to put people into a box a little too much. Be careful of that when you are defending minority ethnicities. I actually love that you are so passionate about it! Just be careful about how you present it. Plus, try to be respectful of the writers of these articles. That will make other readers respect your words a lot more as well. Believe me, when you offer a respectful difference of opinion, you will get so much farther in life! …Good luck, and open your mind a little about this. I assure you, these looks are certainly not limited to thin straight hair.

    • These hairstyles are common

These hairstyles are common with Latin and Asian men as well as with Caucasian men. Maybe they wouldn't work well with black men, or men with very curly hair because of the texture. But you can't please everyone all of the time.

Y did the comments turn ugly. Really no reason for it. You know they say the things that piss you off the most are things you see in youself. And some of this Stiles are nice. But I feel like most of them are just for guys who want attention. I may be wrong but I know a couple of chicks who agree. And most guys I meet with these types of hair cuts are dush bags. But I live in nj theres alot of assholes in my state o hate to say it but yeah. Very hipster dush bag hair cuts. In my experiences thats who has them

  8. The top knot is really hard
The top knot is really hard to pull off! But it’s definitely worth it if you did it right. The Side part is for a classy corporate guy, and the Undercut and Pompadour are really amazing! Thanks for the information!

Some of these hairstyle are strange-looking on men! And the bun for a guy is a bit much and would drive me back to giving the rural Maine guy and his haircut a second look, LOL!

  11. Balding / thinning guy here

Balding / thinning guy here and the writer of the blog.  If you read it, it said those of us that have follicles. I wish I could sport some of these hairstyles, but cannot.  Is it wrong to do a post on something that others can do and I cannot?  Maybe I'll do one about balding later.   As for the use of the word biased.  If I did a blog about piercings, would that be biased against people that do not have piercings?

As to the anonymous / coward / black men comments.  Yes, I agree, nothing was in the blog about black / coarse hair hairstyles.  The prime information was from another website that as well did not mention coarse or black hair.  I am not black, nor have coarse hair, nor am a barber.   Do you have information to share? Share it with us instead of pointing an anonymous finger.  Have a conversation instead of saying the magazine is against black men.

Just to clarify, my “Anonymous Coward” comment was directed towards the illiterate pre-pubescent who attempted to grace us all with his(?) elementary school slur. I rather enjoyed the article, and ever since Instinct has filtered abusive homophobes from these comment threads I have begun to enjoy using this forum again. Great work! Cheers.

    • Great job, Adam! You handled

Great job, Adam! You handled the criticism well, too. I love a kind and well thought rebuttal to critics. You have made a fan of me, for sure! I too have thinning hair. In fact, I just shave my head now, and I really have grown to totally love it! However, if I had hair, I think I might try the ponytail looks as well! –Who ever would have thought. I am normally not called to the look of ponytails, but that small, simple relaxed masculine look is absolutely intriguing.

I am white, and I have black nieces and nephews, and I love them more than anything or anyone I can imagine. I am extremely sensitive and protective of them. I constantly think about what they would think if they read certain comments and article online, and I get very upset if it might hurt them in any way. I will tell you, I did not feel offended by this article at all. Also, some of those looks could totally work for black course hair. My friend, you did a great job! Thank you for your kindness and thoughtfulness. …Now, if only we could see more articles on great gay artists… 😉
