RuPaul’s Drag Race legend Kennedy Davenport is a force to be reckoned with.
She obliterated the competition in season 7 and All Stars 3 with her unbelievable lip syncing abilities (who can forget her performance of Katy Perry‘s “Roar” against Katya), fun personality and drive that has helped make her a fan favorite since her inception on the show many years ago.
Now she and many other RPDR vets are back on our screens in the highly anticipated docu-series Werq the World. It’s being described as a raw, real, behind-the-scenes look at the global drag tour of the same name that debuted on streaming service WOW Presents Plus last week.
Kennedy sat down with me at Instinct to discuss what fans can expect from Werq the World (she and the other queens get their own episode), her thoughts on how sister A’Keria C. Davenport did on RPDR this season and why she was still happy that Yvie Oddly won in the end.
Kennedy! What can you tell our fans about the Werq the World series?
It gives an in-depth look into what we had to go through when actually preparing for a show of this size. That’s the best thing people want to see really and that’s what makes it fun.
You and 9 other RPDR vets were asked to be part of this. What does your particular episode involve?
I believe my episode involves just me and my story. Especially being on Drag Race, a lot of people don’t get to know who you are so deeply as a person as they do when they are on the road with you.
Do you have a moment from the Werq the World tour that stands out more than the rest?
I really don’t know, I really don’t. It was a while ago.
What did you think about this past season of RPDR? Were you happy that Yvie won?
Yeah, I was happy that Yvie won. I was also so happy that Aquaria won her season- it was well deserved. The top four of both seasons were very deserving. Both seasons were very entertaining.
How proud were you of your amazing sister A’keria?
A’keria is my niece and I’m very proud of her. I saw sides of her I didn’t even know she had so that’s always a good thing.
In conclusion, why should fans tune into the show?
Fans should tune into the show because it shows them fun moments with us queens and allows for the opportunity to bring more awareness to the art form. It shows what we have been up to after Drag Race, and is for a worldwide audience.
