Pat Robertson Denounces Trump’s Syria Move, Says God Won’t Like It

I don’t know if hell just froze over, but at the very least, Satan is probably putting on a fleece jacket. That’s because the divine evangelical crypt keeper, otherwise known as Pat Robertson, has just become the latest “Christian” to go against a major Donald Trump decision.

Robertson took a break recently from his usual schedule of homo hating and blaming gays for natural disasters –from Katrina to Maria, to voice his dismay with Donald Trump pulling US Troops out of Syria, which has set up our Kurdish allies for slaughter by Turkish armed forces. The veteran TV preacher calls it an act of betrayal against our allies. He’s right – for once.

It’s a breath of fresh air to see Robertson use his past-its-prime Christian television program The 700 Club to show his patriotism for the country – a welcomed contrast to his past litany of homophobic diatribe like blaming the 911 attacks on the LGBTQ community, rather than the actual culprits who flew planes into our landmark buildings, killing thousands of people.

Through every embarrassing and sometimes dangerous Trump antic of the past, Robertson has vowed unwavering support for the orange wannabe King. However, this latest abysmal move by Trump to withdraw our troops, according to Robertson, is where Jesus draws the line,

“The president of the United States is in danger of losing the mandate of heaven,” Robertson told his TV audience.

He seems to have forgotten though, that Trump knows so little about God that during the 2016 campaign, he described communion as “drinking my little juice and eating that little cracker.”

Still, apparently, God is ok with Trump’s adultery, three marriages, paying off porn stars to hide fornication, lying, cheating, inciting violence at his rallies, homophobia, xenophobia, racism, and womanizing. As Robertson sees it, God’s ok with all that, but a weak military strategy will block Trump’s entrance through the pearly gates.

Sure, ok. That sounds about right.

The problem with Pat Robertson is that he says so many bat sh*t crazy things. When he does finally offer a reasonable point of view – though rare, it gets lost in his daily deluge of ridiculousness. The only other denouncement of Trump by Robertson was last year, over the handling of the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The vicious assault that left Khashoggi dismembered reportedly occurred at the hands of the Saudi Prince. Robertson minced no words at the time, stating that Trump had “allowed Khashoggi to be cut in pieces without any repercussions whatsoever.”

Yup, that accurately sums up what Trump did, and Robertson surprised many conservatives by speaking out against it. However, in that instance, Robertson selectively did not weigh in on if Trump’s complacency, aiding and abetting of a murder would impact his chance of getting into heaven. That is an example of good old Christian cherry-picking at its finest, and Pat Robertson is the best at it.
