Grey’s Anatomy just got even more representation.
The medical drama Grey’s Anatomy is the longest running scripted primetime tv show in American tv history.
In all it’s 15 and counting seasons, the series has seen multiple LGBTQ characters don scrubs and grace the screen. This includes the bisexual icon Dr. Callie Torres, the lesbian hero Dr. Arizona Robbins, the transgender intern Dr. Casey Parker, and more.
And now, it has been announced that season 15 of the series will see the introduction of the show’s first gay male surgeon.
ABC has announced that newcomer Alex Landi was cast as a gay male surgeon named Dr. Nico Kim.
ABC also confirmed that Landi will play a reoccurring role, but would not give more details about his character or how many episodes he is planned to appear in.
Hopefully, Landi’s character will be well-liked by the audience and will then get to stick around longer. Hopefully, his character won’t be a plot point for drama among the other characters such as the disastrous and not missed Dr. Minnick.
We’ll just have to wait a couple weeks to see what happens to Dr. Nico Kim as Grey’s Anatomy’s 15th season will air on September 27 with a two-hour special.
