Get ready Sydney, Sam Smith is coming to Mardi Gras!
The Grammy-award winning singer has announced that they’ll be performing during the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade festivities. Specifically, the British singer will take the stage at the Mardi Gras Party on Saturday, February 29.
While announcing the performance, Smith noted that the night will be “one of the highlights of their career.”
“This is honestly one of the highlights of my career, Australia has meant so much to me as a queer person and I am gonna be singing at Mardi Gras this year,” said Sam.
“I cannot wait to be with you all after such a challenging time. Hopefully we can spread that love and celebrate and sing and dance. So yeah, Mardi Gras, I can’t wait to see you.”

But Smith won’t be the only big name at the event. Smith joins fellow LGBTQ singer Kesha and ally Dua Lipa. Plus, Brazilian drag performer Pabllo Vittar is also set to perform. In addition, the organizers behind Sydney Mardi Gras have promised a great range of performers.
But where is the event being held? It’s going to take place at the Hordern Pavilion, which will be transformed to a play land for participants to listen to get music, party, and enjoy a wonderful Mardi Gras. More information and tickets can be found here.
