Sean Hayes Is Playing A Cis Woman In His New Film

Sean Hayes is a lazy Susan?

Sean Hayes’ next big role is on the horizon, and it’s a very interesting choice. To be clear, Hayes, who co-wrote the film titled Lazy Susan, isn’t playing a trans woman in the movie. Instead, the Emmy-winning actor plays Susan O’Connell “a woman on the edge with nowhere to go but over, Lazy Susan is a story about a spectacularly unmotivated cisgender woman for whom doing nothing is exhausting.” So it’s essentially a Madea or Mrs Brown’s Boys type of role.

But what is the movie actually about? The film’s official synopsis goes as follows:

“Susan has always been the self-centered oddball in her family, who lazily skated through life with their grudging support until one day she wakes up to realize she’s middle-aged with no job, no relationship, and an increasingly estranged family. She finally decides to take charge and turn things around, but never having done anything herself before, the struggle is real (and hilarious) as Susan becomes the woman she always wanted to be, all on her own.”

Joining Hayes in the movie are Emmy-winner Margo Martindale and Oscar-winner Jim Rash, Oscar-winner Allison Janney, Tony-winner Matthew Broderick, and more.

The film hits select theaters and on-demand on April 3. Until then, you can watch the trailer below.

  1. Wish he would of made it a gay comedy , we have enough straight movies out there, to have gay guys make another straight movie is boring to me. Make more gay content , straight ppl have enough representation, my 2 cents.
