It's kind of insane to believe that Mean Girls was released almost 15 years ago (April 30th, 2004 domestically).
The film that has inspired a generation with endless GIF's, quotes, memes and more is still incredibly relevant to this day for a myriad of reasons that go beyond us catching some of it on cable or our streaming devices.
For one, it's still a current topic all this time later due to the musical Mean Girls on Broadway, which has been a major success for all involved. The show also racked up a ton of Tony Awards nominations last year but didn't win a single one (As if! Wait… wrong movie).
Ariana Grande also gave the teen comedy a nod in her music video "Thank U, Next" that parodied Mean Girls as well as Legally Blonde and 13 Going on 30. Jonathan Bennett, who played Lindsay Lohan's love interest Aaron Samuels in the original movie, made a cameo appearance in the video as well as the most legendary momager on the planet… Kris Jenner.
So with the 15th anniversary of Mean Girls coming up, does this mean that the original cast is planning to do a sequel? There was a sequel already made, but with a different and less memorable cast.
Many of us would love to see where a lot of these characters are now, preferably Regina George (Rachel McAdams), Gretchen Weiners (Lacey Chabert), Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried) and our fellow gay Damian (Daniel Franzese).
Lindsay teased this happening while on the red carpet in New York City for her new MTV series Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club. It follows around LiLo as she embarks on opening her own business overseas in Mykonos, Greece.
"The whole cast wants to do it, but we have to make sure we're all doing it together," she told Entertainment Tonight. There is also someone else who is very interested in being part of this potential project.
"Jimmy Fallon's also going for it too," Lindsay revealed. "He was helping me out today, actually."
So let's make this happen, please. We need to find out what happened to the mysterious Glen Coco all these years later.
