Tracy Young Snags The Grammy For “Best Remixed Recording” For Madonna’s “I Rise”

Madonna has always wisely had the ability to zero in on producers and collaborators who have a creative vision and a keen ear, and the magic that the producer/DJ and Ms. Ciccone make in the studio is almost always ethereal. One of Madonna’ most frequent collaborators is Miami-based DJ/Producer/Remixer and now Grammy Winner Tracy Young. Tonight, Young snagged the Grammy for Best Remixed Recording for Madonna’s “I Rise”.

Young also has the dubious distinction of being the first female to be awarded a Grammy in this category, and the fact that she had managed to achieve this  lofty accomplishment was not lost on Young. As she took the mic to accept her award, one of the first things she said through tears was “we made history ladies”!  She went on to thank, among others, Madonna for “all of the opportunities” and “my LGBTQ family friends, club goers and music lovers”. She finished my accepting the award for “all female producers who have been overlooked”.
