Someone is sending flyers about transgender student resources to households across Texas, but the group claiming to be behind them has a rather suspicious paper trail.

According to an investigation by the CBS News Texas I-Team, the flyers present themselves as a resource guide for LGBTQ+ students. However, the name on the mailers, Texas Transgender Student Union, raises some serious questions. The group appears to have no website or other public online presence.

Follow the Paper Trail to Wyoming

Here’s where things get even stranger. According to investigative research made by CBS News, records show that Texas Transgender Student Union LLC was registered in Wyoming, a state known for its business-friendly laws and privacy protections. Businesses can use registered agents with physical addresses in the state without actually operating there, making it more difficult to identify the people behind them.

And there’s another twist: much of the information in the flyers appears to have been taken from the Transgender Education Network of Texas (TENT). The organization has denied creating, approving or distributing the materials, making it clear that the flyers are not affiliated with the group.

TENT has also pursued legal action over the mailers, seeking to address the distribution of information it says has caused confusion and harmed its reputation.

So, Who’s Really Behind It?

The mystery has attracted further scrutiny, with a West Texas district attorney announcing a criminal investigation into the mailers over potential forgery. Meanwhile, the Wyoming registered-agent company connected to the LLC has reportedly begun the process of cutting ties with the business.

So far, investigators have not publicly identified who created, funded or sent the flyers. And while speculation about the sender’s motives continues, there is no confirmed answer about who’s responsible.

For now, the big question remains: who is using the appearance of a transgender student resource guide to distribute these materials across Texas, and why?

Until that answer emerges, this mystery is far from over.
