Guillermo Diaz is one of the most delicious men to gawk at in the entertainment field. And he’s one of us! Hooray (call me)!
His adorable face has been seen on the small and big screen for several years in shows and films like Scandal, High School High and Half-Baked. He also did that cute little music video with my all-time favorite pop icon Britney Spears back in 2011. Remember when he poured milk all over his sexy self? I SURE DO!
Guillermo, 44, will be one of the hundreds of celebrities involved in WorldPride, which officially kicks of tomorrow, June 26.
He and RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 queen Honey Davenport will take part in an event for Impulse NYC‘s newest campaign called Take Flight. It includes a kickoff party on Thursday night aboard The Intrepid as well as two other meetups throughout the weekend.

“We have a lot to celebrate this year,” says Impulse NYC President Rasheed Gonga. “In addition to 2019 being the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, it is the ten-year anniversary of Impulse Group and the fifth anniversary of Impulse NYC. Our team wanted to go above and beyond this year by creating experiential events that truly embody our message to Take Flight sexually, Take Flight mentally, and Take Flight physically.”
Guillermo chatted with me about his excitement for WorldPride as well as his hilarious response to being called a bear icon, thoughts of a Scandal reboot and so much more.
What’s the tea about you and Honey Davenport’s upcoming Impulse NYC WorldPride event?
Well, I’m super siked to be a part of this event with Honey Davenport, who I am a big fan of! She sashayed away in the RPDR episode that I was on, and I fell in love with her instantly. I’m looking forward to her performance at the Take Flight event, and I am SO happy to be a part of WorldPride with such an important and impactful group of human beings as Impulse Group NYC.
Can you tell us more about what Take Flight means?
Well, Pride to me means celebrating, UNAPOLOGETICALLY, who we are as gay folks, but not only that, Pride is also about remembering those who paved the way for us. People like Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Ray Rivera, Harvey Milk and SO many others who sacrificed so very much and stood up face to face with the VERY real and violent homophobia of the past.
Even though we still have a long way to go. these young gays need to remember how fortunate they are because of people like this. We all need to celebrate now but also celebrate those who fought for us to have what we have today so fearlessly.
Are you aware of what an icon you are in the bear community? Many of us love you for a variety of reasons.
Aww I LOVE being part of the bear community! i wouldn’t have it any other way. They are some of the most loving and accepting group of furry dudes I have ever met. Icon? Me? All I can say is… it’s about time! Just kidding! Lol
Scandal is sadly over. Do you miss it and if a reboot happens would you consider going back?
I miss Scandal, terribly! The other day I was sitting alone and said out loud, “I miss you Huck.” Cheesy, I know, but the Scandal experience and getting to play such a complex character for seven years is quite a rare thing in this business.
What was it like guest judging RPDR this year and being on that iconic set?
Guest judging on RPDR was a dream come true! Ya know… It’s freezing in that studio! They keep it super cold in there so the queens don’t melt. I was late to the game though; I didn’t start watching until like five or six seasons in but my friend Lisa forced me to binge watch it with her and I was hooked!
In conclusion, what is your message to everyone this Pride?
My message to everyone this Pride is: go listen to Madame X! Also, LOVE is the thing you know.
Tickets for both events can be purchased here.
