We’ve seen it many times before. Belligerent and drunk people acting a fool and getting violent in public. While the below story is more of the same, it’s also the focus of many talks between social media users and news sources today.

A Facebook video has appeared on the account Antisocial Britain. In it, a drunk woman can be seen harassing a gay man outside of a building at night. The account chose to caption the video with the words, “Drunken woman launches homophobic attack. Posted to educate the public about LGBT issues on our streets.” While this may not be the most conventional educational video, it certainly caught people’s attention with around 100,300 views, 724 shares, 591 comments, and a few news articles around it.

Despite not knowing what led up to the altercation, the video shows us the woman calling this man a “fat fanny” (a British slang word for vagina). While the man tries to keep his distance, the woman presses onto him stating that she believes he’s misogynistic and hateful to women. She then begins to push the man and take swings at him while calling him a “fat fa***t.”

After the video began making the rounds, Ryan Carrington came forward to confess that he was the man in the video, according to PinkNews. He says that he’s the landowner of the Black Friar pub in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire and he had this altercation on August 16.

But according to Carrington, the attack and aggressive conversation was much longer than the four minutes recorded above.

“Being a publican I am well aware of cameras and have to act accordingly, yes my patience was tested but you have to think of pity for this woman,” he wrote on Facebook.

“I doubt it’s the life she would have chosen if she had a choice. Let’s not condemn her, let’s try to help and educate, far more rewarding,” he wrote.

According to police, the woman was arrested on a suspicion of public order offense.
