Time’s Up, Fox News -The Women Are Talking In The Trailer For “Bombshell”

The moment we saw the teaser trailer for the upcoming film Bombshell, we knew that it was going to be a game changer. Nicole Kidman (portraying Gretchen Carlson), Margot Robie (as Kayla Pospisil, a fictional composite of many accusers) and an absolutely unrecognizable Charlize Theron (portraying Megyn Kelly) are headlining the film which tells the story of fall of Fox News, courtesy of a culture, tone, and workplace environment set by CEO Roger Ailes and company. The iciness between the women in the Fox News elevator is only matched by Kidman & Theron’s complete ambivalence when when Robie’s character (a fictional composite of many accusers to protect their anonymity) clearly has something on her mind

The full trailer for Bombshell just dropped and we get a much deeper dive into how the story of the unraveling of Fox News is going to be told. To the strains of Billie Eillish’s “Bad Guy” (an ironic soundtrack choice if there ever was one), the women of Fox News are shown in their own individual stories, but all of them ready for a fight. Megyn Kelly is being insulted worldwide by the man who would become POTUS, following a prickly debate interaction. Gretchen Carlson is formally reporting her male colleagues to HR, while a young producer, the fictional “Kayla Popsil” is getting a crash course in how Fox News works, courtesy of the disgraced former chief Roger Ailes, played with a slick eeriness by John Lithgow.

The film focuses on the allegations against former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes by female anchors Gretchen Carlson and Megyn Kelly, which ultimately led to his ousting from the network that he himself spearheaded. The remainder of the cast is almost a who’s who of Hollywood; from Connie Britton as Beth Ailes to Richard Kind as Rudy Giuliani to Spencer Garrett as Sean Hannity.

Bombshell is due to be released on December 20, 2019 in theaters everywhere
