Two men, a meth addict, and a goat drove up to an adult video store, and then one man and one goat found themselves driving across three states. Unfortunately, that little tale wasn’t the setup of some poor joke. Unfortunately, it’s a true story of something that happened in Missouri.

According to the Associated Press, two men in a pickup truck parked outside an adult video store in Carthage, Missouri this past New Year’s Day. The driver entered the store during the early morning while the passenger slept. When the passenger awoke, 40-year-old Brandon Wade Kirby was inside the car and holding a gun in the victim’s direction. Kirby, who was wearing a mask, drove the car, which held a goat in the back, across three states.

According to a police report, Kirby took methamphetamine during the drive. In addition, he pistol-whipped the victim during the extended journey. The group ended up driving from Missouri to Oklahoma during a few hours. Kirby then let the passenger and his goat go after reaching Creek County. The victim then called 911.

Police from the Creek County Sheriff’s Department in Sand Springs and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol entered a chase with the car thief. Oklahoma Highway patrol ended up performing a tactical vehicle intervention on highway 412, according to Newson6. Meaning, officers pushed the truck into a ditch. With the car stopped, Kirby jumped out and ran on foot. He ultimately dropped his mask and gun in the pursuit. He was later apprehended and charged with kidnapping, pointing firearms and felony possession of a firearm.

After they booked him, police discovered that Kirby was recently released from prison. He was also wanted in Osage County for a second degree burglary.

After the arrest, the Sand Springs Police Department released a post on Facebook saying, “OK 2020, it only took you 4.5 hours to get weird. Let’s slow down on the carjacking-goatnapping calls for the remainder of the year.”
