In A Fiery Discussion, McCain Boldy Calls Out The Mainstream Media’s Praise For The Former Mayor
Ahh, the Democratic Primaries are upon us and sparks are flying! Have you and your friends or family turned on one another already because of the pool of candidates? For what has seemed like an eternity already, the Democratic Party is laser focused on getting Donald Trump removed from office in favor of someone reppin’ blue. This go-around, if you’re a registered Democrat, you have a ton of candidates to make your choice selection. Wildly, the race for a Democratic nominee could honestly be anyone at this point. Do we truly have a clear front runner that isn’t of our own preference? Seriously, we’ve seen massive support for almost every candidate on social media that it’s too close to call. If you’re still reading this, chances are you must be rooting for Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Joe Biden, or Amy Klobuchar. Yet, there is another candidate who has yet to be on a debate stage and is rustling feathers while gaining an astounding amount of followers: former New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg.
According to Bloomberg’s official 2020 Presidential Campaign Wikipedia, he’s already spent almost one-hundred and eighty-eight million dollars (ten million alone on one Super Bowl advertisement) on his journey to becoming the United States President in 2020, mostly funded by himself – he is worth over sixty billion-billion, with a B. An extreme divide within the Democratic Party is causing Bloomberg to come out on top through the woodwork. Shockingly, Bloomberg has been praised as the person to beat Trump due to being another billionaire. While we can scratch or nod our heads at that statement, you cannot deny that he’s been rallying a lot of support from voters… or maybe just the major news stations. While he doesn’t even have half a million Instagram followers (compared to someone like Sanders nearing five million), he’s receiving a ton of mainstream-media (MSM) support. It’s causing some social media users to call out the extensive amount of supportive press Bloomberg is getting, despite him having said racist remarks, transphobic remarks, being a former Republican, and essentially not having an energized voter turnout or campaign. It makes you question: Are we being duped by the MSM? Enter the lovely ladies of probably the most popular daytime gab fest, The View.
Yes, the women of The View present themselves in full passion whenever they are talking about a specific topic and today was no different. If you’re an avid watcher, you’ll have noticed a plethora of favoritism for Bloomberg coming from Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg. Since two leaked tapes of Bloomberg’s (potentially) racist rambling came out – Sunny Hostin has waivered on her support of him, yet declares she will support him if he chooses his Vice President to be Lawyer and Author, Stacey Abrams. Since the beginning of the media’s support for Bloomberg, the table’s lone Republican, Meghan McCain, has openly stated it’s not going to happen, he won’t win. Today, things became much more heated.
The conversation first begins with the women discussing Bloomberg now qualifying for the next Democratic Debate. Then, Hostin showcases a video from 2011 where Bloomberg states “black and Latino males, let’s say 16-to-25 … don’t know how to behave in the workplace, where they have to work collaboratively and collectively”. Instantly, Behar jumps in defense of Bloomberg by reading off (potentially) racist actions Trump has done in the past and continues to defend the former NYC Mayor. McCain fires back at her, calling out a blind defense of Bloomberg:
“I’m not defending Trump because I’m attacking Bloomberg. I’m saying that your shiny, sparkly guy who is surging right now – every candidate surges at one point or another. I think it’s so interesting that you [Behar] have a problem about how we’re talking about him the way we would any other candidate. I’m supposed to give Bloomberg a pass? Not on this show, not this host.”
McCain, possibly for the first time ever on the show, was met with roaring applause for her statements. Behar attacks McCain asking who she will be voting for come the election, deeming McCain “[will] not vote” (as it may be Trump versus Bloomberg). McCain bluntly directs:
“Who I vote for is none of your business. But I’m not voting for Trump and I’m sure as hell not voting for Bloomberg. I think the idea that I should come on here and give candidates passes for surging – and that we shouldn’t bring up real issues. If Democrats won’t look at it, Republicans will. We should vet whoever [is in the White House]. His extremely problematic comments on PBS [television network] – this is more than fair game. He did this publicly. I will say for him to come out expecting nothing- to come out and The View not to be talking about this as a hot topic is ridiculous. Why? Because he has a billion dollars? There is an impression from the media and you [Behar] that we should give him a pass. You [Behar] seem to always have a problem when I have a different view [on Bloomberg].”
A quick view of the YouTube comments, which some of us read daily to compare mental notes, shows that McCain is being favored by her audience, again, for probably the first time. Take a peek:
Could Bloomberg’s money potentially be influencing MSM outlets to report on his good behavior and politics while ignoring a damaging past?
