If Carole King (ask your parents) can have a hit Broadway show about her life called Beautiful, Gloria Estefan can have have a big- ass awesome musical about hers called On Your Feet! (Yes, the exclamation point is part of the title. We know–that's Gloria.)
The production will tell the story of Gloria's relationship with Miami Sound Machine musician Emilio Estefan, and her rise to the top of the charts during the '80s. It'll be directed by Broadway veteran Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Hairspray), with a book by Alexander Dinelaris (Still Life) and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys, Memphis).
An open casting search called “Reach Gloria” (Reach, damn you, REACH!) will be held in New York and Miami on September 9 and 21 respectively, so get your dance shoes ready. The show is scheduled to begin previews at the Marquis Theater in New York on October 5, 2015.
Dunno about you, but heaven's what I feel!
