Actor and singer Jussie Smollett’s new single “Freedom” is out and not only does the out artist want to celebrate gay love in his acting work, but he also wants to celebrate it in his music.
In the music video, Cynthia Erivo (from the Broadway revival of The Color Purple) and Tika Sumpter (of Southside With You) play a lesbian couple living to love.
The video shows the two women enjoying chill time in bed, traveling in their jeep, and partying it up together.
"This video is about love. I wanted to show two people doing the everyday things that every single couple does,” Smollett said in a statement.
“I see nothing but beauty through the eyes of these characters we’ve created. I hope everyone else does as well. Love is freedom. Freedom is love.”
