I’m here to share with you all another wonderful film project that’s hoping to get financial backing.
37:24 is an LGBTQ film that needs your backing and support. The film follows a gay man who’s in the process of accepting his fiancé’s suicide and the forming of new love.
As the Kickstarter webpage explains:
“37:24 is a film about Tommy, a 30 year old actor, who has hit rock bottom after his fiancé, Patrick's suicide. The film takes place six months after Patrick's suicide. Tommy, a once happy and stable man, is now finding solace (or avoidance) in binge-drinking and casual sex.
All that changes when John, an older man from out of town, shows up in Tommy's acting class. Tommy lets him crash on his couch, develops feeling for him, and begins to feel happiness again.
Is this real or just another distraction?”
Writer, director, and actor Jesse Egan is trying to create this film in order to explore what it’s like to lose or to worry about losing a loved one.
Egan explains on the Kickstarter page that he grew up being depressed, which led to a suicide attempt in his 20s. Afterwards, he witnessed his family and friends worrying over him, and it led him to wonder what the people in his close circle were experiencing.
“It made me really want to explore the other side of that, and it made me want to put myself in that headspace and work through that. What it is like to lose someone in that way, and how do you comprehend those feelings… the film is really about exploring the people that are left behind. The loved ones that are left behind.”
37:24, which is named after Psalm 37:24 (“Though He May Stumble, He Will Not Fall…”), still has two weeks to go in its campaign (as of this article’s publishing).
The film currently has raised over $5,000 but needs an additional $3,000 to succeed and receive the money.
