Fox is back with another live musical performance, and this time it’s RENT.
The 1996 Tony Award winner for Best Musical is going to grace our screens next month, and the first teasers for the event have dropped.
Broadcast television has been on a live musical event kick for the past few years now. Multiple shows such as Grease, The Wiz, Hairspray, and more have graced our screens thanks to the help of tv channels like NBC and Fox.
Now, RENT is next on the list and we’re excited for it because of some of it’s cast. As with several other performances, many celebrities of tv, music, and Broadway fame have signed up for the show.
This includes Vanessa Hudgens of High School Musical and Broadway fame, singers Mario and Tinashe, Dancing With The Stars winner Jordan Fisher, Emmy-nominee for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert Brandon Victor Dixon, actors Brennin Hunt and Kiersey Clemons, and drag queen Valentina.
Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Valentina, who’s currently on this season’s RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, says she’s excited for the performance.
“I’m definitely taking on a lot, but I’m so excited, especially because it’s live,” she said. “It’s such a blessing to be here and meet the cast for the first time.”
Fox’s RENT Live performance will air January 27.
