Oops, she did it again! Looks like Britney Spears will try to conquer another stage after a two-year residency in Las Vegas. Playbill reports that a new show based on her most popular songs titled Once Upon a One More Time will make its world premiere in Chicago this fall. And they are planning a Broadway premiere shortly after. You Better Work, Bitch!
Using fairytale like characters such as Cinderella and Snow White, the show will tell the story of a royal book club that discuss their opinions about a The Feminine Mystique-wielding fairy godmother. The musical will include a catalog of hit songs and a book by Jon Hartmere who did Bare: A Pop Opera. The show will be directed by Kristin Hangii who was nominated for a Tony for Rock of Ages. The show will be choreographed by husband and wife team, Keone and Mari Madrid.
Britney has shared:
I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs—especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore. This is a dream come true for me!
Casting for the show has not been announced.
Once Upon a One More Time premieres October 29th at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago, with an official run from November 13th-December 1st. The Nederlander was previously scheduled to be home of the Michael Jackson bio-musical Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough, but it was cancelled last month. Too much Leaving Neverland for them?
All you Britney fans and undersexed housewives out there, throw on your knee-highs and strut your way to Chi Town to feel your I’m a Slave 4 U oats!
