Next month, South African tv viewers will be able to witness the marriage of two celebrities in a four-part special.
Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung are reality tv stars known for appearing on four season of Living The Dream With Somizi and Somizi’s time as a judge on Idols SA. Now, according to Mamba Online, the couple’s high profile wedding will be displayed to the rest of the country (and the world) in the wedding special Somizi & Mohale: The Union.
The four-part special will show their September wedding at Kibler Park in Johannesburg as well as the months leading up to the ceremony. The September wedding was a starstudded event that included entertainment by Vusi Nova and Judith Sephuma. Meanwhile, South African and African talent such as Bonang Matheba, Pearl Thusi, Cassper Nyovest and Julius Malema, not to mention Somizi’s mother, award-winning actress Mary Twala; his daughter, and his brother Mazwe Mhlongo from the Grammy-winning Soweto Gospel Choir were in attendance.
Plus, that wasn’t their only ceremony. The two held a second wedding in Muldersdrift this past Thursday. The event even started to trend online with the hashtag #somhalewhitewedding.
Somizi & Mohale “is a front-row seat to one of the most historic, heartfelt and not forgetting fabulous weddings in South African celebrity history,” said Showmax in a press release. “Expect romance, gorgeous decor, dazzling chandelier cakes, G.H. Mumm champagne and multiple costume changes.”
That said, it’s not all about the wedding. The special will depict “not only the union of their love but also the merging of their families and their respective Zulu and Sotho cultures.” According to the show’s producers, the tv special is “a story that touches on Somhale’s trials and tribulations, their respect for family and culture, and their acknowledgement of the symbolic message the union is sending to the entire African continent – that when all is said and done, love will always win.”
If you want to watch Somizi & Mohale: The Union, South Africa’s first gay celebrity wedding special, the first episode will appear on Showmax on February 24.
