Andy Cohen took millions of his fans on an emotional journey when he documented the day his son Benjamin Allen Cohen was born in relation to his 1st birthday on Tuesday, February 4.
The Watch What Happens Live host, 51, shared a series of Instagram Stories that took followers behind the scenes of the big moment that changed his life forever.
He first shared a photo of him in the waiting room with his BFF Bruce Bozzi (Andy played godfather to his daughter many years ago). “Exactly a year ago, I waited in the hospital for the arrival of my son with my best friend Bruce and my incredible surrogate (she took this pic),” he wrote as the caption.
Andy of course was anxious for the arrival of his first child. “I was so nervous and so emotional,” he wrote on another IG story of him eating some food at the hospital. “I was in & out of tears most of the day.”
The wait is over! Benjamin was born at 6:30 that evening. Andy post a never before seen pic of his baby boy’s entrance into the world where he looked too cute for words.
He got political in another story while thanking his surrogate for all she did. “Families come in all forms… and I’m grateful to my surrogate for helping make mine a reality. I’m also hopeful we can make surrogacy legal in NY state so other couples & lgbtq fan can have the same experience.”
The charismatic television personality shared a separate dedication to his son as an actual Instagram post which came with a beautiful photo of him holding his son and giving him a big kiss. “One year ago tonight, I sat alone in a hospital room with my newborn son pondering our future,” he wrote. “I didn’t know then how his smile would brighten my day, what simple joy each new progression of his growth would bring, and most of all what a lovely boy he would become. I am so grateful to my surrogate in California who made this all possible, and for every day of our first year… and can’t wait for the next. Happy Birthday sweet little Ben.”
Happy Birthday Ben!
