Kristen Stewart and Dan Levy in a same-sex themed rom-com? Yes, please!
Back in 2018, it was announced that Kristen Stewart would star in a lesbian Christmas rom-com. According to the Hollywood Reporter at the time, Happiest Season follows a young woman who plans to propose to her girlfriend while at her family’s annual holiday party. However, her plans are thrown around for a ride when she finds out her partner, played by Mackenzie Davis, has conservative parents.
At the time, we were unsure when the movie would come out. Thankfully, we now know that the film is set for a November release this year. Even better, we’re seeing some onset photos and it looks like another celebrated LGBTQ talent is connected to the piece. Namely, Schitt’s Creek’s Dan Levy.

As Deadline reports, Levy has joined the cast and seen filming alongside Kristen Stewart in Pittsburgh, PA. Unfortunately, nothing is known about his character so far. But seeing his inclusion in the film already has us even more interested than we already were.
Levy won’t be the only celebrity name joining Stewart in the film. Aubrey Plaza, Alison Brie, and Victor Garber are also signed onto the film as well. In addition, the movie is being directed by Clea DuVall. DuVall also co-wrote the script alongside Mary Holland. Plus, the movie with being produced by TriStar productions and distributed by eOne Studios in the UK and Canada.
But when exactly will the movie be released in theaters? Currently, it’s believed that the movie will release sometime during the holiday season later this year. More specifically, the movie is expected to drop on November 20, 2020.
