Gay BBC Reporter Targeted By Homophobic Trolls On Social Media

A BBC News and 5News reporter and television host is sharing the homophobic hate he’s receiving online.

Ben Hunte was the tv host and presenter for Gay Britannia on the BBC last year. In that special, he was the face that talked about the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalization of homosexuality in England and Wales.

Unfortunately, that spotlight on him and his sexuality has also raised a large target on his back for homophobic demons on social media.

But Hunte wasn’t going to let the haters and evil demons of the internet win, so he decided to spotlight them.

In a tweet, Hunter captioned the line, “Back in London aaand back to receiving daily online abuse… Do you clap-back or just ignore it?!”

Attached to that tweet was a screenshot of some of the homophobes who were attacking Hunte constantly.

Hunte also continued to share the hate that he was receiving in these social media comments and shared his thoughts on the matter.

For instance, in one tweet he said, “Some of my closest BME gay friends are no longer with us because of this kind of hate. It needs to be stopped, but for reasons you mentioned, I doubt it will! Hot mess ignorance.”

Unfortunately, spotlighting the hate won’t end it all, but at least now Hunte will gain some allies and support to help fight off the demons.

  1. If we monitor the hate and

If we monitor the hate and allow regular decent criticism that's fine. But the race and homophobia etc just block them. Once they lose their tools with fake ads and pictures they may get a life. They hide behind their accounts they won't say it out loud in public they will lose jobs and respect from family and friends#blocktrolls
