Kathy Griffin is taking her next big swing post the Trump head scandal.

The comedian has had a rough time since 2017 when she photographed herself with a fake Trump head. After receiving major backlash for taking the photo and posting it online, Griffin immediately apologized. But then, she later took back her apology. She said part of the reason for this is that the Trump Administration had allegedly decided to make an example of her.

Things got worse for Griffin when she lost several gigs such as working as a co-host for CNN’s New Years Eve coverage. Her famous friendship with Anderson Cooper even ended because of the debacle. Then to add insult to injury, Griffin also faced her mother’s worsening dementia.

But, Griffin remains strong as she continues to work as a comedian with no censor. Late last year, Griffin announced that she had bought all the rights to her entire catalog. In addition, she was traveling around the globe in a “Laugh Your Head Off” tour. And now, she’s getting ready to release her first concert film.

The first trailer is out for Kathy Griffin: A Hell of A Story. The film is set to premiere at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. Griffin herself will be in attendance to host the world premiere and have a Q&A at the screening.

The film discusses Griffin’s saga during the major controversy around the photo taken by Tyler Shields.

A statement for the film reads:

“No matter how polarizing you may find her, this is an unprecedented story in US history. An attempt to decimate an American citizen from the highest levels of government. From losing an entire career, receiving death threats, being the subject of a federal investigation, it only took Kathy Griffin one afternoon to learn the impact one photo could have to ignite a continuous smear campaign.”
