Daniel's mother can be heard saying, "You have made a choice, independent of what you've told your daddy…You can deny it all you want to but I believe in the word of God. And God creates nobody that way, it is a path that you have chosen.
Daniel says he can't change his sexuality, citing scientific proof and basic biology, but she won't have it. "Since you have chosen that path, we will not support you any longer. You will need to move out and find wherever you can to live and do you want to. I will not let people believe I condone what you do." ('Cause it's all about you, mom, right?)
Then things get really hateful. An argument starts with a voice yelling at Daniel, "Let me tell you something you piece of shit!" Daniel is hit and shouts of "damned queer" are heard.
At that point rythymknight says he was forced to leave. "It's been a really traumatic experience for [my boyfriend], and I feel so terrible and angry that this happened," he said. "Fortunately, he's living with a friend for now. Seems like he can be there long-term until he's able to support himself."

I don't want this to sound like a testimonial but here goes…my 89 year old Mom couldn't afford the "home" she was in anymore and asked my partner and I to take her in. My two brothers didn't want her. They're both straight and couldn't make room for her. We accepted her with no open arms and she couldn't be happier now.
Now my partner's Mom needs physical assistance and she refuses to go to a "home". We're looking for a larger house to accommodate our family of four. Again the other two siblings refuse to help.
Ironically the gay sons are the ones who came to their rescue in their time of dire need. We're happy that we are able to do it.

I think with families like these you can't expect them to accept you right away. There needs to be discussion, support(for the son), and the acceptance will gradually set. I guess it depends on how important family is to you or if you'd be happier putting them in your past. I think it is the churches fault for not teaching their members how to worship god with an open mind and heart. If this is how people think because of their faith then their faith, or spiritual leaders have cheated and failed them.
