Matt Wilkas is joining RuPaul’s new Netflix show.
Deadline reports that Wilkas is the latest to join the team led by the famous drag star and 2 Broke Girls co-creator Michael Patrick King. Together, the two are creating AJ And The Queen, a 10-episode comedy to appear on Netflix.
Set in the 1990s, the show will star RuPaul as Ruby. Ruby is a drag queen who’s hit rough times but still hasn’t given up on life. She then ends up taking a road trip and club tour across America. But unbeknownst to her, a 9-year-old stowaway named AJ (played by Izzy G) has hidden herself in Ruby’s 1990’s R/V.
And how does Wilkas factor into the equation? He’ll be playing a NYC cop named Patrick Kennedy.
The synopsis for this Kennedy role says that Wilkas will plays a macho and charming police officer who’s also gay.
RuPaul Charles, Izzy G, and Matthew Wilkas will be joined by Josh Segarra, Michael-Leon Wooley, Katerina Tannenbaum, and Tia Carrere.
AJ And The Queen is still in pre-production, so there’s no current release date for the Netflix series.
