Miley is back with a new single, a new album on the way, and enough pop-star intrigue to keep the gays happily occupied. The singer has released Bass Persuades, the lead single and title track from her upcoming tenth studio album, and if the name is any indication, we may be in for some very loud feelings.
Bass Persuades arrives September 18 via Atlantic Records, marking another chapter for the singer who has spent much of her career turning emotional chaos, outrageous fashion, rock-star swagger, and irresistible pop hooks into a particularly Miley-shaped brand of entertainment.

So, What Does “Bass Persuades” Mean?
According to the singer, the title is about the emotional power of music itself.
“My tenth studio album, BASS PERSUADES, is yours September 18th,” she wrote on Instagram, explaining that music can take hold of us, make us sing and dance, and help us release whatever we are carrying.

She described the feeling behind the title as powerful, vulnerable, sweet, and strong, encompassing everything from a full heart to heartbreak and all those messy little moments in between.
Fans also spotted references to music videos from Michael and Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Madonna, and the film Querelle, which had a character with a disease that would later be named HIV/AIDS.

And considering this is the woman who gave us Bangerz, we probably should have expected another album title that sounds like it could double as a life-saving measure to our otherwise dull life.

Miley, But Make It Mysterious
There is also a little name-change intrigue surrounding this new era.
Miley has recently dropped “Cyrus” from her social media handles and some of her latest official public-facing material. However, there has been no confirmation that the change extends to her legal name in real life.
Given the longstanding public speculation surrounding her relationship with father Billy Ray Cyrus, fans have inevitably started connecting dots. But speculation is still speculation, and a change to public branding does not automatically mean a legal name change has taken place.
For now, we’ll simply file this under “interesting.”
And Then There’s the Hollywood Bowl
The new album era will not remain confined to headphones. On September 1, she announced two Hollywood Bowl performances for October 16 and 18, marking her first major live dates in quite some time.
So, between a new single, a tenth studio album, two big concerts, and a mysterious new approach to her public name, this era is already giving us plenty to discuss.
