Forget victory speeches and confetti. The drag activist Pattie Gonia had a different way of celebrating the blue wave, and they weren’t exactly keeping their clothes on.
American politics has given us plenty of things to look away from, but Pattie Gonia has just offered a rather compelling reason to keep watching.

The drag performer and environmental activist made good on an election promise that was considerably more entertaining than your average campaign pledge: post a nude if Democrats and Democratic socialists won a majority in the 2026 US midterm elections.
And unlike some politicians who seem to develop selective amnesia once Election Day is over, Pattie actually followed through.

The original bargain was straightforward. In an Instagram post ahead of the midterms, Pattie declared:
“if democrats / democratic socialists win a majority of the midterms, i’m posting a n\*de. go vote. “
It was an unusual get-out-the-vote strategy, admittedly, but apparently democracy could use all the encouragement it could get.
With Democrats securing control of both chambers of Congress, the activist had a promise to fulfill. The results also brought a historic Texas victory for James Talarico, giving supporters another reason to celebrate.
Democracy Has Never Looked Quite Like This
Of course, making a bold promise online is one thing. Realizing that thousands of people might be expecting you to deliver is quite another.
Pattie initially seemed to experience a brief moment of election-related regret. In an earlier Instagram Reel, they appeared shirtless, tugging down their underwear and laughing at the situation.
Their caption read:
“In a powerful way, YAY. But in another powerful way, oh no.”
Honestly, a perfectly reasonable response to discovering that your own election-night celebration now comes with a dress code.
But the activist wasn’t about to become another person making promises they couldn’t keep.
Pattie Gonia Gives Voters the View They Were Promised
The follow-up Reel left considerably less to the imagination.
“I’m a person of my word. Happy blue wave. I’m so proud of all of us for making our voices heard.”
The video begins with Pattie covering their face while shirtless before revealing the promised payoff: a cheeky photograph of the activist outdoors, showing off their bare bum against a natural backdrop.
It’s an unconventional victory statement, certainly, but one that delivers exactly what was advertised.
Apparently, a little cheek can get people talking about the midterms, too.
And if Pattie Gonia has taught us anything, it’s that some promises are worth keeping, especially when the entire country has just given you a reason to drop your pants.
