Industry fans, prepare yourselves. The final season is already shaping up to be a deliciously chaotic affair, and now Russell Tovey is joining the party alongside Ben Platt. With Kit Harington also returning, HBO appears to have decided that the best way to close out the series is to give us even more handsome men and complicated people behaving badly.
Welcome to the Final Season
As first reported by Variety, Tovey and Platt are joining Industry as guest stars for its fifth and final season, which is currently in production. Tovey will play Declan P. Davis, deputy to left-wing politician Nikesh Shah, played by Bally Gill. Platt will portray Matt Crenshaw, a venture capitalist and early backer of a wellness-tech company. Their arrivals add even more fresh faces to a season that already includes names such as Zosia Mamet, Dianna Agron, Cary Elwes, and Sam Riley.
And yes, Russell Tovey in Industry feels like exactly the kind of casting decision that makes gay viewers sit up a little straighter.

Kit Harington Has Set the Bar
Of course, the British actor is walking into a show that has already figured out how to keep its audience thoroughly entertained beyond the financial jargon.
Kit Harington’s Sir Henry Muck became one of the show’s biggest sources of thirst during Season 4, with the actor getting considerably more opportunities to show off the character’s messy, seductive side. The season also delivered a charged storyline involving Muck and Whitney Halberstram, played by Max Minghella, giving viewers plenty of reasons to pay attention whenever those two shared a scene.

So now we’re getting Tovey, Harington, and a particularly twunkier-looking Ben Platt in the same final season?
Industry, please. Some of us have jobs.
Tovey Has Been Keeping Busy
Tovey is no stranger to projects with plenty of queer appeal. The openly gay actor has appeared in everything from American Horror Story: NYC and Feud: Capote vs. The Swans to the more recent film Plainclothes, co-starring Tom Blyth.

He is also taking on one of his most intriguing roles yet in Wild Bird, a short film directed by Andrew Haigh, the filmmaker behind All of Us Strangers. Tovey plays legendary fashion designer Alexander McQueen opposite Olivia Colman as fashion editor and stylist Isabella Blow. Tovey also wrote the film, which imagines a road trip between the pair as they attempt to repair their complicated friendship.

Industry is ending with its fifth season, but the casting department clearly isn’t going quietly. Between political intrigue, wellness-tech money, questionable decisions, and enough attractive people to keep the group chat busy, the final season already has our attention.
