VIDEO: Gary Sinise’s new full time job? Helping our wounded vets.

I've always loved Gary Sinise and the roles he has played.  He seems like he has a great heart and he's the type of guy you could hang out with.  Well he is proving just how big his heart really is.

Since the cancelation of CSI: NY last year, Sinise has been busy working full time with his foundation, helping wounded soldiers with many aspects of their lives once they return to the United States. Yesterday, his charity presented a new home to Staff Sgt. Travis Mills who was injured during his third tour in Afghanistan in April of 2012, losing both arms and both legs, one of only 5 surviving quadruple amputees from the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

While Mills was in the hospital, representatives of the Gary Sinise Foundation told Mills they wanted to build him a house.

“I was like, ‘This must be the drugs,'” Mills recalled.  PortlandPressHerald

This had to be some of the best news Mills had received after returning to the United States and began his recovery, giving him hope for the future.  At times, it must have seemed that there was no hope and Mills reiterated that during Wednesday's ceremony in Manchester, Maine, where he received the keys to his new home.

Mills told everyone he moved to his wife’s home state to thank her for all she has done for him. In an emotional voice, Mills told the crowd listening to his every word, “I’m proud to still be part of the family, cause when I got blown up and she was next to me, I said, ‘Just take Chloe and whatever we have in the bank account and go.’ You know, ‘Don’t put up with this.’”  BangorDailyNews

It is great to see actors and other people with influence giving back to those that give so much for us.  Even though Staff Sgt. Mills gave so much, he is still giving more.  These days, Mills is making it his mission to help other wounded warriors, hosting a camp for them in Maine through his own foundation and traveling around the country as a motivational speaker.

John Hodge, director of operations for Tunnel to Towers, recalled Mills determination and recited quotes the soldier gave after his injury and as he learned to use prosthetic limbs.

“I’m not wounded anymore,” Hodge recalled Mills saying. “God bless you for that attitude.”

It's not often that I find FOX "news" warming my heart, but kudos for bringing this great story to a national audience.  Watch the interview below with Gary Sinise on FOX.  At 2:30 in the clip below, get the tissues ready.  It waters my contacts every time.
