It’s Zac Efron’s birthday week, and frankly, we’re celebrating like it’s 2006 and we’ve just watched High School Musical for the first time. Remember when Troy Bolton had us questioning whether we were watching Disney Channel for the plot or for that charming, all-American jock? Yeah, some things never change.
Efron turns 39 this year, and our collective crush has officially survived nearly two decades. From singing his way into our hearts to showing off those muscles in Baywatch, the man has given us plenty of reasons to keep watching. And with three new projects on the horizon, it seems our favorite birthday boy isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

From East High to Hollywood Hottie
When Efron first stole our hearts as Troy Bolton, he was the quintessential boy-next-door dreamboat: charming smile, basketball skills, and enough Disney romance to keep us delusional for years. But he didn’t stay in East High forever.
Over the years, Efron has stretched his acting muscles across genres, starring in everything from the animated adventure The Lorax to the musical spectacle The Greatest Showman. Then came Baywatch, where those famous red swimsuits and a seriously sculpted physique practically demanded their own screen time.
His looks have changed, his roles have matured, and his career has taken some unexpected turns. But that Efron charm? Still very much present and accounted for.
Honestly, if growing up means growing into Zac Efron, we would like to speak to whoever is in charge of the aging process.
Three New Projects? Say Less
According to Deadline, Efron has three projects lined up: Famous, Judgement Day, and Angel Heart. Consider our watchlists officially updated.
In Famous, the 39-year-old is set to take on dual roles in a thriller, giving us a chance to see him tackle a more demanding performance. Two Zac Efrons in one movie? Hollywood, you have our attention.
Meanwhile, Angel Heart will see Efron stepping behind the scenes as an executive producer alongside Zach Baylin, creator of Black Rabbit, who is also attached to write the series. It’s another opportunity for Efron to expand his work beyond acting.
Details on the projects are still developing, but we’re already curious to see what these new chapters will bring.
Forever Our All-American Crush
From Disney heartthrob to versatile Hollywood leading man, Zac has grown up right alongside an entire generation of fans. And while we’re certainly excited about his upcoming roles, we won’t pretend that a little nostalgia isn’t part of the appeal.
Happy birthday, Zac! Here’s to another year of great performances, exciting projects, and giving us absolutely no reason to get over you. Some crushes fade, but Troy Bolton will forever have a room in our hearts.
